Managing seats
Understand how seat charges work on the Team plan: adding a seat, removing one, and what happens on renewal.
Introduction
Seat management only comes up on the Team plan, where each advisor on your team counts as one seat. This page covers how DNA counts seats, what happens when you add or remove one, and how the monthly renewal works.
Billing is admin-only. Team members who are not admins see a "managed by admin" message when they try to open the billing area. If you are a regular member and need a change, ask one of your team's admins.
How seats are counted
You do not pick a seat count directly. DNA derives your seat total from the people on your team:
Every active advisor, including yourself, counts as one seat.
Every pending invite counts as one seat from the moment you send it.
Declined invites and removed members do not count.
The Team page shows your current seat total, alongside the dollar impact on your monthly bill.
Adding a seat
To add a seat, invite a new advisor from the Team page. Each invite you send triggers an immediate pro-rated charge for the rest of the current billing period. On your next renewal, the full per-seat charge applies.
See Inviting team members in Team Management for the invite flow itself.
Removing a seat
To remove a seat, remove the corresponding team member from the Team page. The seat comes off your subscription immediately.
Removing a seat mid-cycle does not refund the current period. DNA stops charging you for that seat on the next renewal. The pro-rated amount DNA already billed for the current period stays on your bill. Plan the change around your billing cycle if refund timing matters to you.
Monthly renewal
On every monthly renewal, DNA charges you for whatever seat count is active at that moment. DNA already accounts for any pro-rated charges from mid-cycle additions, so they do not double up on the renewal invoice.
