Chatting with Helix
Global vs. client-scoped conversations.
Introduction
Chatting with Helix works like any modern messaging tool. Type a question, hit send, and Helix responds in line. This page covers starting a conversation, using prompts from the library, talking to Helix with your voice, and asking better questions.
Starting a conversation
Open Helix from the sidebar (or from any client file for client-scoped chat) and start typing. Each new chat becomes its own conversation in the history sidebar. Once you send your first message, Helix responds and the conversation appears in your history.
To start a fresh chat, click New Conversation in the history sidebar. Your current conversation stays in the history for later.
Using the prompt library
The prompt library is a set of ready-made starting points for common advisor tasks. Open it from the input area to see prompts grouped by intent:
Analyze: look into a specific part of the client's picture.
Plan: think through strategy for the client.
Prepare: get ready for an upcoming meeting.
Explore: broader industry questions (global Helix only).
Click a prompt to drop its text into your input. Edit it to fit the situation, then send. Prompts are a shortcut, not a template.
Asking better questions
Helix works best when you give it enough to go on. A few habits help:
Be specific: "Does John have enough coverage for his mortgage?" works better than "How's John's coverage?"
Give context when it matters: mention the client's age, family situation, or goal if it shapes the answer.
Stay in the right mode: open client-scoped Helix when the question is about a specific person, and global Helix when it is not.
Ask follow-ups: Helix remembers earlier messages in the same conversation. Build on your previous questions instead of restating the whole setup every time.
